STM's Annual Blessing of Animals in honor of the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi (October 4) will take place on Sunday, October 3 at 1:30PM by the Bell Tower. Bring the whole family and your pets for a special blessing! God's gift of God's creation and the animals we have care over brings joy to our lives. For this, we praise, thank, and bless God's holy name and ask the prayerful intercession of St. Francis of Assisi for us all! "Let the earth bless the Lord. Praise and exalt him above all forever. Mountains and hills, bless the Lord. Everything growing from the earth, bless the Lord. You springs, bless the Lord. Seas and rivers, bless the Lord. You dolphins and all water creatures, bless the Lord. All you birds of the air, bless the Lord. All you beasts, wild and tame, bless the Lord. You sons of men, bless the Lord." -Daniel 3:74-82 (Image: Saint Francis Preaching to the Birds, predella of Saint Francis of Assisi Receiving the Stigmatta, c. 1295-1300, Giotto, Musée du Louvre; Image and original data provided by Réunion des Musées Nationaux / Art Resource, N.Y.)
