The St. Thomas More Youth Ministry has been very active around the parish and is always welcoming new members. Here are some of the highlights from the last few months. Jesus' love is one of a kind, and the youth have a special flame of faith for us to fan! All of our parish youth and their friends are welcome to join us and grow in faith, friendship, and have fun in these important years of their lives. Contact the Rectory for more information and stay tuned to our website and FB Page for updates on events happening! On Sunday, March 6, STM pitched its Lenten "Living Rosary" Initiative, and nearly 100 individuals and families signed up! Beginning 3/6, through the Season of Lent, our parish has 5 full rosaries (20 mysteries each) being prayed each day for peace in the world, especially in Ukraine and Europe, and for an increase in faith, hope, and love. We also remember the intentions of all those in need, especially those among our parish family. Each family or individual that signed up commits to praying one mystery/decade of the Rosary each day (through the Season of Lent). With the 19 other mysteries being prayed by others, the Rosary comes alive as a complete “Living Rosary” and prayer of spiritual communion in our parish family. As we begin this Holy Season of Lent, we go "into the desert" with Jesus to learn his way. His way teaches us that every Good Friday brings an Easter Sunday. By dying to ourselves, we may find new life in Christ. In our Living Rosary, we will meditate on the Gospel (the Good News, the mysteries of the Rosary) and ask Mary to teach us about her Son's life so that we can embrace and live his way in our lives. We still have time to begin another Living Rosary! Please see Fr. Marek or contact Colleen at the Parish Office for your mystery and information on participating. We hope you will join us in this Lenten Parish-Wide prayer! Lent is fast approaching! On Wednesday, March 2, the Church begins the Penitential Season of Lent.
Ash Wednesday Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Liturgy of the Word Services (with Distribution of Ashes) will be offered at 12:10 PM and 4:15 PM. We hope you will join us as we enter into this Holy Season! As per the Lenten Regulations of the Archdiocese of Newark: “The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the “paschal fast” to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare our selves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily His Resurrection. The other Fridays of Lent are days of Abstinence. On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permit ted, and two (2) smaller meals, which, if added together, would not exceed the main meal in quantity. Those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast.” |
